Below is a list of all the services we regularly carry out according to the design phase in which they are usually carried out. Select the relevant phase from the list on the left to jump to the assocaited services.
If there are any noise and vibration related services you require that you do not see below, or if you would rather talk to us to find out if we can help, don't hesitate to get in touch.
If you are seeking BREEAM Credits for Acoustics, we carry out all the required survey, assessment and commissioning work and prepare the necessary evidence for the assessor. We do this for any project type, from standard to bespoke assessments. We also provide the same services in relation to achieving Code for Sustainable Homes (CSH) Credits.
Noise maps can prove a useful tool to demonstrate the wider impact (or lack of) your development will have on the existing environment. They can also assist in masterplanning, and are sometimes requested by Planning Authorities. We have the necessary software and expertise to produce the noise maps for as many development scenarios as required.
Whether it's quantifying the background noise levels as part of a BS 4142 assessment, or measuring road traffic noise levels to assist with the design of a building facade, we can carry out attended or unattended surveys at as many locations and for whatever duration required.
Whether planning permission is sought for a residential development beside a busy road or railway line, or the installation of industrial plant has promted an assessment request from the planning authority, we can provide all the services required to assess the scheme, make recommendations for mitigation where appropriate, and produce evidence required to support the planning application.
Whether the focus is on the impact your developement will have on the existing noise climate or vice-versa, if an Environmental Statement is required to support a planning application, we carry out the necessary survey and assessment work to prepare the Chapter on Noise and Vibration. We will liaise with the planning authority as required to ensure any concerns relating to noise and vibration are suitably addressed.
Feasibility assessments allows important aspects of the design to be determined as early as possible. These include determining what ventilation strategy is appropriate, what type of glazing is likely to be required, whether barriers will be necessary etc. Having this information as early as possible can provide essential information for masterplanning, costing, or determining whether a development is feasible in the first place.
Whether planning permission is required for the installation of some mechanical services plant, or an assessment is required as part of a noise complaint, we carry out the necessary survey and assessment work to complete BS 4142 assessments. Where the assessment indicates complaints are likely, we will make recommendations for mitigation where practicable.
From investigating control at source measures to specifying silencer insertion losses or enclosures around plant compounds, we carry out all aspects of an industrial noise control assessment. This may be to obtain planning permission for the installation of plant, or to mitigate a disturbance being caused by existing plant.
From schools, hospitals, residences and offices to multiplex cinemas, public libraries and court houses, we carry out all the necessary survey, assessment and design work to meet the acoustic requirements or aspirations appropriate for the intended use of the developement. We will produce all the output required to convey the design intent, including reports, plans, details and specifications.
Building Bulletin 93 presents the acoustic requirements for an educational facility. We carry out all the required survey and assessment work to inform the design team of the treatment required to meet the requirements. Also, as the acoustic design of an educational facility falls under Building Regulation E4, we can prepare the necessary evidence for Building Control to demonstrate compliance with this requirement. We can also carry out Pre-Completion Testing if required.

We do this for any project type, from standard to bespoke assessments. We also provide the same services in relation to achieving Code for Sustainable Homes (CSH) Credits.
HTM 08-01 presents the acoustic requirements for a healthcare facility. We can carry out all the necessary survey and assessment work to inform the design team of the treatment necessary to meet the requirements. We can also provide Pre-Completion Testing for the completed facility.
Approved Document E to the Building Regulations presents the acoustic requirements for both New Build and Change of Use Residential developments. We can carry out all the necessary assessments and advise on the measures necessary to meet the Building Regulations requirements. We can also carry out the Pre-Completion Testing for the developement.
From achieving BREEAM Credits for internal noise levels, sound insulation and room acoustics, to achieving suitable privacy around sensitive spaces and appropriate acoustics within Telepresnce faclilities, we carry out assessments on all acoustic aspects of office design.
Whether planning permission is sought for a residential development beside a busy road or railway line, or the installation of industrial plant has promted an assessment request from the planning authority, we can provide all the services required to assess the scheme, make recommendations for mitigation where appropriate, and produce evidence required to support the planning application.

Site inspections allow issues with the on-site implementation of the design to be picked-up during the construction phase, where rectifying these is less disruptive and costly. As such, where the correct implementation of complicated construction details is critical, we carry out site inspections during the construction phase.

This may be to obtain planning permission for the installation of plant, or to mitigate a disturbance being caused by existing plant.
Whether Pre-Completion Testing is required to achieve Building Control Sign-Off, or because it is a contractural requirement, we can carry out airborne and impact sound insulation testing, as well as quantifying internal noise levels and reverberation times if required.

Where noise levels within work premises are potentially high, The Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005 (the Noise Regulations) requires Employers to establish these and take action where they are found to be above certain levels. As such, whether you want to determine how your work place noise levels compare the Noise Regulations, or quantify your current noise levels to avoid future legal disputes, we carry out full Noise at Work Assessments.
